This section will be the future home of everything Movies, from films released before I was born to the latest blockbusters. Stay tuned!
My VHS copy of the classic film Clockwork Orange. I saw this film way before I was old enough. The older kids were talking about it, so I snatched my dad's Betamax copy and was freaked out. I knew straight away I shouldn't be watching it. Been a fan of these kinds of films since.
Here is a classic Corman film from my VHS collection. I love this film. Great car scenes and brutal violence. One of the titans of the B-Movie genre. First time I had ever seen Stallone.
Here's another VHS from my personal collection. I didn’t like it as much as part one, but it’s still a good movie. It takes me back to the good old days when weekends were spent watching all the videos you rented on Friday night. I really miss going to the video store. I enjoy streaming and having so many films at the touch of a button, but I loved browsing through all the movies and admiring the covers.
Here is a VHS copy of The Blues Brothers from my personal collection. This is a screener copy. For those unfamiliar, these were given to record stores and video stores as samples to decide if they wanted to carry the movie. They were mostly sent to small mom-and-pop stores, while corporate-owned stores usually didn't receive them. I suppose a small number might have, but I'm not sure about that. I have a handful of these screeners. Some had "not for sale" splashed throughout the movie, but occasionally you could get lucky and find a screener that was clean and free of those markings. As for the movie itself, The Blues Brothers is a platinum classic.
For my first post in the movie section of my site, I want to highlight Ken "Ace" Brewer, Meri Gyetvay, and Livid Media. I've known them for a few years, and they are truly amazing individuals.
The first thing worth mentioning is how much they’ve grown as filmmakers. These two create amazing films on a shoestring budget, with some of their early projects costing less than a monthly house payment. Their growth as filmmakers is evident with each new film. When they made "Like Father, Like Daughter," he used a drone for the first time, and it turned out perfectly. Meri has also made huge strides in her SFX and makeup skills.
They consistently work with the same cast and crew for each film, which says a lot. Having such a dedicated group of people who want to keep collaborating speaks to their character. Everyone involved in these films does an excellent job and excels at what they do, from the great acting to the incredible music. If you haven't seen any of their films yet, you should check out their website and pick one up.
I was a producer on Death Bitch, and it was amazing to see my name on a movie poster. They made a dream come true for me. Even though I didn't play a big part in the process, being part of it was incredible. I'm also a producer on their next film, Return to Death Park. I know it will be a fantastic movie, and I can't wait to be involved in anything these two do in the future. They are more than filmmakers to me; they are friends.
If you're interested, head over to Livid Media and check out the store and movies they have for sale. The link to the site is on the home page, but I'll still include it here.
